Financial woes at Barca could spark bidding war for Vitor Roque
Tottenham Hotspur have been looking at South American striker Vitor Roque as he looks to bid adieu to the Catalonia-based club following his struggles to find his feet at Barcelona, per The Mirror.
The 19-year-old arrived at Camp Nou from Brazilian side Athletico Paranaense in the January transfer window following an agreement between the clubs worth £52.5 million, including add-ons, last July. With some of the most prestigious clubs in Europe actively vying for his signature, Roque was regarded as one of the most high-potential strikers coming out of Brazil. Alongside Tottenham, the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal, and Manchester United were all linked with a move for Athletico Paranaense number nine.
Will Spurs outbid rivals for Barca’s rising star?
Spurs are looking to sign a marquee striker in the upcoming transfer window, and they could reignite their interest in the Brazilian striker. However, his signatures would not come easy, as alongside the North Londoners, Chelsea as well as Manchester United are also considering reviving their fascination for the Brazilian ace, per Football.London
Any pursuit of his signatures for the Premier League trio is tricky, as Barcelona understands the potential of Vitor Roque and the age limitations of Lewandowski. Despite the financial difficulty at Camp Nou, as of now, they would not entertain a bid for their Brazilian ace. However, if there is a bidding situation between the Premier League giants for his services, this could become financially beneficial for Barcelona.
While for the Lilywhites, a player of his potential fits the transfer policy that Daniel Levy has adopted under Ange Postecoglou, as the 19-year-old is a high-potential youngster who can be shaped as per the Australian long-term needs.
