Tottenham could move a defensive star to the Championship this summer

Tottenham Hotspur centre-back, Joe Rodon has been finding a ton of success during his loan spell away from the club this season. The 26-year-old has been on loan to Championship side, Leeds United.

Rodon has been a key member of the squad and thanks to his contributions over 49 appearances, Leeds United are at the brink of being promoted to the Premier League. The team needs just one more win to pull it off.

Since the 26-year-old has played such a key role on the team, it is no wonder that Leeds United wish to keep the player on a permanent basis, as confirmed by BBC. However, they lack the financials to pull it off.

Football.London reports that Leeds United could be getting a major £170m cash injection ahead of the summer. However, they will only be getting this money if they successfully get promoted to the Premier League.

Another positive with promotion will be their efforts to retain Joe Rodon. If Leeds gets promoted the 26-year-old can stick with them and play guaranteed first team football instead of returning to Tottenham to ride the bench.

So, it is clear to see that the Championship side have a lot riding on their upcoming playoff finals. Trasnfermarkt values Rodon at just €6m, however, the Lilywhites know that Leeds values him a lot more than that and can use that to up the price.
