Bargain buy or not? Spurs mull Timo Werner future
Tottenham Hotspur are yet to decide on their position on signing Timo Werner over a permanent transfer as the North Londoners prepare for the upcoming transfer window.
There have been reports suggesting Werner’s current employers, RB Leipzig, are kept in the dark by the Lilywhites about whether they were going to take up the option in the German international’s contract or not. This suggests that the club is still pondering the possibilities and has not yet made a decision on whether the former Chelsea man would make a move to the N17.
Timo Werner awaits Tottenham’s verdict
While Daniel Levy and the officials in the cubicle of Hotspur away ponder the decision, the ever-reliable German outlet Bild, via TEAMtalk, suggests that Werner is ‘comfortable’ at White Hart Lane.
The report dictates that Tottenham have an expiration on the £14.5 million buy option in the contract, which runs out on the 14th of June. This leaves the North Londoners with a better part of a month to make a decision about the option.
Many supporters were surprised when the club announced the arrival of the German international in the winter transfer window, as his arrival split opinions following the hardship Werner endured at Stamford Bridge.
However, to reciprocate the move, it has worked out pretty well for Spurs and Ange Postecoglou, as the 27-year-old has fitted seamlessly into the Australian gaffer’s style of play at the N17. He has been used on the left flank as opposed to his preferred central role; however, it has worked out pretty well for the Germany international, who played an important role in Spurs push for a Champions League finish.

Timo Werner did endure a season-ending injury when Spurs hosted Arsenal at White Hart Lane earlier this month, and many fear that was the last they saw of him in a Spurs shirt. However, it is to be seen whether Levy takes up the bargain option to bring him to North London this summer or if he will look for opportunities beyond the German ace.
