FFP woes for Everton? Branthwaite could spark summer sale
Tottenham Hotspur are among the clubs vying for interest in Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite as they look to make a move for the 21-year-old in the upcoming summer transfer window, per Daily Mail.
A move for the England international would fit into the newly adapted transfer policy at White Hart Lane. Daniel Levy & Co. are looking to bring high-potential young players who they can shape as per Ange Postecoglou’s long-term needs. Spurs are looking at Premier League-proven prospects as they look to solidify their squad for a Champions League push next season.
There is a need to sign players at the centre of the defence following the problems that Spurs had to endure owing to a lack of depth in the position. The Lilywhites had to feature full-backs in the middle of defence at some point this season, and Ange Postecoglou wouldn’t want to repeat that scenario in the following season. The club did sign Radu Dragusin in the winter window; however, they are expected to make at least one more signing for the position this summer.
Homegrown hope or cash injection? Everton face Branthwaite dilemma
While the North Londoners seem keen to secure Branthwaite’s services, Everton’s aim is to start a bidding war on the player. Alongside Spurs, the likes of Manchester duo United and City are also eyeing the 21-year-old’s services.
Owing to the FFP compliance that the Merseyside Blues are facing, they could be forced into selling their most expensive asset this summer. The club could be forced into selling either Branthwaite or Onana in the summer window, and a £50 million offer could be reportedly enough for Everton to consider selling him.

He is one of the best defenders outside the top six, and if he has a compelling performance for England at the Euro Championships, it will boost his profile.
However, it is to be seen if the rumour of a Branthwaite move this summer has any legs to it.
