Spurs in race for Ukrainian “Foden” Sudakov! Euros could hike price
Tottenham Hotspur have been targeting highly-rated Ukrainian midfielder Georgiy Sudakov for a summer move. The Express claims that he is expected to leave his current employer, Shakhtar Donetsk, for a big money transfer this summer.
This comes as a boost to the North Londoners and their bid to land the 21-year-old’s services.
Alongside Spurs, Chelsea have also been linked with a move for the midfielder, who has been likened to Manchester City superstar Phil Foden; however, Shakhtar are willing to sit tight till the post-European Championship to consider bids to sell Sudakov. They are hoping EURO 2024 will skyrocket after the off-season tournament.
Forget Mudryk! Shakhtar prepare to cash in on another young star
Despite only having a couple of years of first-team experience, 21-year-old Georgiy Sudakov has emerged as one of Ukraine’s most exciting young talents. Shakhtar claimed a hefty £62 million (initial) payday when they sold Mykhaylo Mudryk to Chelsea last summer, and they are hoping Sudakov will be another cash cow for the club.
Express acknowledges Tottenham and Chelsea’s interest in the starlet, claiming that both clubs are speaking with Shakhtar in the lead-up to the summer transfer window. They are yet to establish common ground over any potential deal; however, the Ukrainian giants will be reluctant to consider a sale before Euros, barring any substantial offer.
Ukraine are going to play Romania, Slovakia, and Belgium in the group stages of the European Championships, and senior figures at Shakhtar believe that Georgiy Sudakov has an opportunity to announce himself to the world with his performances. Ukraine also plays Germany, Poland, and Moldova in the build-up to the tournament, which gives the 21-year-old another line of opportunities to impress his potential suitors.
