Werner to Stay? Spurs mull permanent deal despite injury
Tottenham Hotspur are expected to sign Timo Werner on a permanent deal following his success during his loan at White Hart Lane.
The North Londoners have an option to bring him to N17 and register him on their books this time around; however, they will have to take up the €17m (£14.6m) buy-out option in their loan deal with RB Leipzig. There have been reports suggesting the German international’s current employer, RB Leipzig, is kept in the dark by the Lilywhites about whether they are going to take up the option in his contract or not. This suggests that Spurs are still pondering the possibilities and have not yet made a decision on whether the 28-year-old would sign him on a permanent deal.
Dr. Rajpal Brar discusses potential impact of Werner’s injury on Spurs transfer
Dr. Rajpal Brar suggests that Spurs would not likely require another medical for the German international, irrespective of his current injury, as the injury expert insists that Werner is currently on the sidelines with a potential Grade 3 hamstring injury.
Spurs would want to focus on getting the 28-year-old ready for the pre-season, especially if they are looking to sign him on a permanent transfer.
Dr. Rajpal Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, speaking exclusively on the Tottenham News, said:
“Werner has been ruled out with a Grade 3 hamstring injury at least, and currently, the focus will be on his rehab. If Spurs are to sign him permanently in the summer, they will have already made their checks on his medical history and gauged his fitness during the time he’s been at the club.”
“If he’s working with the Spurs physios and not the RB Leipzig ones, it’s unlikely he would require another medical.“
