Kane replacement hunt on? Spurs eye Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres

Tottenham Hotspur are linked with a move for Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres in the upcoming summer transfer window.

The North Londoners are in dire need of a marquee striker, as they have yet to replace Harry Kane, who left N17 for Bayern Munich last summer. The Kane-shaped void, complemented by Richarlison and linked with a potential exit, opens doors for Spurs to sign a new number nine this summer.

The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose, John Wenham, has heaped praise on the Sporting CP ace as he believes that the 25-year-old would be “an exciting signing” at White Hart Lane. The acknowledgement by Wenham is on the back of Tottenham correspondent Paul O’Keefe divulging that the former Coventry City striker is on Spurs radar.

Wenham, speaking in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, acknowledged the Swede’s previous experiences in England and insists that Viktor Gyokeres will have plenty to offer. Wenham said:

“Gyokeres at Sporting Lisbon is a very interesting link. He had experience in England with Coventry City, where he was very impressive. His overall game is good. He is big and strong; he can play on the ball, and his finishing is ridiculously good. That would be an exciting signing.”

Tottenham made do without a marquee number nine in the recently concluded season, and Daniel Levy will look to provide Ange with a number nine in his arsenal this summer to ensure Spurs continue to build on the progress they have made this season.

However, Gyokeres services will cost a hefty transfer fee, and it is yet to be seen if Spurs would be willing to break the bank to secure him.
