Time to fly? Gil departure could benefit all parties
Tottenham Hotspur announced their first arrival of the summer as Timo Werner joins the North Londoners on another loan deal, which will keep him at N17 till at least the summer of 2025.
The German international enjoyed some of the best football he has played for a while under Ange Postecoglou’s tutelage since moving to White Hart Lane in January. The 28-year-old featured on the left flank, opposed to his familiar number nine role, and has been a crucial part of Spurs fifth-place finish in the recently concluded season.
Despite splitting fans’ opinions when his arrival at White Hart Lane was announced, Timo Werner has contributed to some crucial goals throughout the second half of the season, proving his doubters wrong. The former Chelsea star’s arrival would suggest Ange’s trust in him while also opening doors for potential exits from the current roster.
Werner first, but Spurs looking for more offensive firepower
Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has suggested that Spurs are looking for more incomings in a similar position, which would spell an end to Bryan Gil, who is likely to bid adieu to Spurs this summer window. He acknowledges knowledge about Tottenham plans and insists that the former Sevilla winger should leave this summer. Speaking on his YouTube channel, the Italian journalist said:
“Timo Werner will be Tottenham’s first signing, but, of course, guys, let me clarify that Tottenham are still looking at options in that position. It could be a winger, with Bryan Gil expected to leave the club, and it could also be a new striker based on what Tottenham decides to do. But there will still be movement in offensive positions for Tottenham.”

Bryan Gil has not found his feet at Tottenham, and his time with the North Londoners is long overdue. A potential exit should prove beneficial to all parties involved, as Gil is a talented player with a calm head; he just needs to feel confident and find his love for the game again.
