Out of favour Tottenham defender Djed Spence set to leave exit looms
Tottenham Hotspur are set to sell full-back Djed Spence in the upcoming summer transfer window, per revelations by Football. London’s Lilywhites correspondent Alasdair Gold.
The 23-year-old recently ended his loan spell in Italian football with Genoa where he made a significant impact despite not cementing his place in the starting eleven. During his spell in the Italian top division, the former Middlesbrough featured in sixteen league outings while aggregating 851 minutes of game time under his belt. He has been impressive with his performances under Alberto Gilardino’s tutelage at Genoa.
Tottenham Hotspur to sell Djed Spence this summer
With the conclusion of his loan spell at Luigi Ferraris Stadium, he will return to Hotspur Way where his future appears uncertain. Alasdair Gold has acknowledged that the 23-year-old may have played his final game donning the Lilywhites badge indicating that he may leave the North Londoners on a permanent transfer this summer.
Writing in his column in Football.London regarding Spence’s future at Tottenham, Gold wrote:
“Spence is another who has a future that lies away from Spurs and the club will be looking to find him a permanent move this summer.”
It would not be surprising if he departs White Hart Lane before the commencement of pre-season. A scenario where Genoa are looking to sign Spence on a permanent deal could work out for Daniel Levy & Co. as they could use him as a makeweight to sign long-term target Albert Gudmundsson.
