Tottenham Hotspur activates contract option for Heung-min Son
Tottenham Hotspur are looking to activate an option in Heung-min Son’s current contract at N17, which will keep the Spurs skipper at White Hart Lane until 2026, per a recent revelation by The Athletic.
The South Korean ace has seen his importance in North London escalating following Harry Kane’s departure in the summer. He is now the star of the club and one that Spurs faithfully rep with pride on their backs. His rising influence on and off the pitch indicates Tottenham’s faith in the 31-year-old ace, who would extend his stay at the club beyond next season.
The former Bayer Leverkusen star has a contract at White Hart Lane until 2025 as of now, and the club is set to take up an option in his contract to keep him beyond the upcoming season and at least until 2026.
The Son continues to shine
Son has not only filled the Harry Kane-shaped void in the squad but also found his form under Ange Postecoglou’s tutelage. He would be hoping to lead the club to some silverware wearing the skipper’s armband, something Harry Kane couldn’t do during his time at Tottenham.
The Lilywhites will also be looking to strengthen their offensive options in the upcoming summer transfer window to support Son as they look to build on the progress that Spurs made under Ange’s tutelage this season.
For now, it is huge news to celebrate if the South Korean ace is to stay at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium beyond next summer. Daniel Levy and his officials will surely be looking at a new contract for an extended term for a player who has already acclaimed icon status at the N17.
