Tottenham eyeing 19-year-old Jose Mourinho favourite from Juventus

Tottenham want to sign the 19-year-old Juventus defender who is liked by Jose Mourinho

Tottenham Hotspur are ready to compete with Liverpool and Manchester United to secure the services of the 19-year-old centre-back playing for Juventus.

The teenage defender Huijsen was a member of the Malaga academy before his July 2021 arrival to the Juventus U17s. Before making his squad debut for the Italian powerhouse in October, he advanced through their ranks.

Huijsen showed his flexibility by playing centre midfield for Roma following his January loan departure from Juventus in order to get more senior experience with a different Serie A team. Huijsen contributed to Roma’s success in 14 games, with two goals and one assist.

The teenager from Amsterdam, who plays for Spain U21s internationally, made an impression on Roma manager Jose Mourinho prior to the manager’s sacking on January 16. When asked about Huijsen, Mourinho said via Teamtalk:

“[He is] one of the highest quality prospects in European football at this age level. He will be a great footballer in the future.”

Tottenham, Liverpool, and Manchester United have been impressed with the teenager’s eye-catching performances recently. Huijsen will soon return to his parent club, Juventus.

Because of their precarious financial circumstances, Juventus will have to let a player or two go in order to make a move for Calafiori. Notwithstanding Huijsen’s strong regard among Juventus authorities, this may cause him to move on.

Huijsen’s situation regarding where he would land next season remains unknown

Huijsen has only played in Serie A 14 times. Thus, he does not carry much experience at the highest level, and as such, he would not easily find his way into the starting lineup of a Premier League team.

With time and experience, Huijsen undoubtedly has the potential to turn into a mature and garnished player. It will be interesting to see which team views him as a worthy investment this summer.
