Prodigal son returns? Fulham eyeing move for former starlet Sessegnon
Tottenham Hotspur’s city neighbours and Premier League rivals Fulham are reportedly considering a move for Ryan Sessegnon, as the Cottagers are looking to bring the academy graduate back to Craven Cottage this summer.
Marco Silva’s Fulham are considering a probable move to bring back Sessegnon, per The Athletic.
Fulham to offer Sessegnon a chance to revive his career?
The North Londoners signed Ryan in a £25 million ($30 million) deal in 2019. It was regarded as one of the most highly anticipated transfers of that summer window, as Mauricio Pochettino was named Championship Player of the Year (2017/18) owing to his phenomenal offensive contributions. He played in a blend of left-back and left-wing-back roles, scoring 15 goals in the Championship that season.
The expectations were sky high when Sessegnon joined Spurs; however, it has not worked out as anticipated for the Lilywhites with respect to injury concerns, as he has never been available for one full season during his time at White Hart Lane. The Englishman has only featured in 57 games for the club over the years.
Ryan’s contract is running out at the conclusion of this month, and the officials at N17 have decided against extending his stay at Tottenham, putting an end to his miserable time at the club. This gives Fulham an opportunity to move for him as the Cottagers look for opportunities to improve their roster this summer.
In Sessegnon, they will be getting a high-potential player low on confidence who will again walk to the corridors of Craven Cottage, a place where he grew up. His availability on a free transfer has made officials at Fulham consider bringing him to Marco Silva’s roster this summer.
