Tottenham set to make yet another effort to sign rival midfield star that Ange Postecoglou really likes

Tottenham will bid for their long-term target Conor Gallagher in the summer transfer

Tottenham Hotspur are getting ready for yet another move to sign London rival captain Conor Gallagher from Chelsea. The 24-year-old is the favourite of Aussie coach Ange Postecoglou, per NY Times.

It may not be an easy job for Spurs to get the English international from the London rival club. Aston Villa already had preliminary talks with Chelsea on signing Gallagher. Tottenham is the second club approaching the ‘Blues’ for the midfielder.

The 24-year-old had a normal season with Chelsea without any extraordinary performances for the Blues, also leading the club in a few matches. Chelsea’s new boss Enzo Maresca is also preparing for some changes in the club.

Chelsea haven’t initiated any talk with the English midfielder, as his contract will expire in a year. From this, we can read the intention of the Blues to sell him in the summer; even though the player showed interest in staying at Stamford Bridge.

Postecoglou has been trying to take the player to the N17 since last summer’s transfer window. Spurs, who are looking for a midfielder to link up with Englishman James Maddison, will try their best to get Gallagher. Both of them have experience playing for the England national team.

Spurs also confirmed the exit of Eric Dier, Ivan Perisic, Ryan Sessegnon and Japhet Tanganga through a club statement. In this scenario, Spurs are forced to sign a midfielder for the upcoming season.
