FA issue 'transfer ban' that spells bad news for Tottenham Hotspur in pursuit of English star

FA transfer ban making complications for Tottenham Hotspur’s race for the English superstar

Chelsea captain and star midfielder Conor Gallagher has been on the radar of Tottenham since quite a while now but their pursuit for the English star is now danger after FA transfer ban.

Gallagher, 24, put up a strong performance in Monday’s 3-0 victory against Bosnia to guarantee his spot on the flight to Germany, but the club officials are still debating over his future.

During a Premier League season full of struggles, the academy product was one of Chelsea’s most significant key players, captaining the squad occasionally under previous manager Mauricio Pochettino.

Transfer complications for the Spurs

As a result of a Football Association order, Ange Postecoglou‘s side is now prohibited from initiating conversations with the English star for the foreseeable future.

According to a report from The Express, as England players are abroad on international duty this summer, the Footballing Authority has blocked clubs, agents, and players from any transfer moves for England internationals.

Postecoglou has plans to bolster the squad when the transfer window opens this summer, including the signing of the English star. But it remains unknown whether he will stick to his interest in Gallagher patiently.

Gallagher could be a wonderful addition to the Spurs’ squad

Tottenham would certainly not like to miss out on the opportunity to grab the star who played a major role in Chelsea’s Europa League win in 2018–19. The Blues needs to sell their homegrown players to raise £100million to be safe from FFA rule breach.

Gallagher has been a member of Chelsea since his eight-year-old arrival in 2008. In 2019, he was promoted to senior status. He certainly has the experience and leadership qualities to play a key role in Tottenham’s future challenges.

Tottenham should wait till the international spell gets over and, meanwhile, focus on their other transfer plans as well. It will be interesting to see what shape Gallagher’s future takes this summer.
