Neville praises Kyle Walker growth away from Tottenham
Tottenham Hotspur have been a breeding ground for talents in London for decades and multiple starlets associate the club with their rising and success, one of them is Manchester City defender Kyle Walker, who has emerged as one of the best right-backs of this generation.
The England international has been a phenomenon for the Cityzens since his North London departure in 2017. He moved to Pep Guardiola’s Man City in a deal worth around £45 million and has been an integral part of the trophy-laden success stint of the Catalan coach. His antics has earned City an aggregate of six Premier League titles and two FA Cups, alongside the first UEFA Champions League glory.
Speaking about the 34-year-old, former Manchester United right-back Gary Neville has acknowledged the significant development that Walker has endured since moving away from White Hart Lane. Neville, who also donned the right-back role in his playing days, acknowledges the game awareness and overall improvement that the England international has demonstrated since his association with Pep Guardiola.

Neville does recognize that Kyle was already a good player at Spurs, however, his progress at City has been exceptional. He points out the improved ability to read the game and make intelligent decisions on the field in a discussion on The Overlap.

“There was a time at Tottenham where I used to watch him and I used to think, he’s improved, he was good then and he’s gone to another level. It’s not the pace, at Tottenham it was that scanning, that was the point, but he does that now doesn’t he?”
