Tottenham and West Ham to butt heads for an English winger this summer.
Both Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United are in the race to sign 22-year-old English winger, Jadon Philogene. The Lilywhites have a ‘concrete’ interest in acquiring the services of the Hull City forward, as reported by Football Insider.
West Ham and Tottenham aren’t the only ones who have their eyes set on the 22-year-old. FC Barcelona have also been linked to Philogene in recent days along with the likes of Luis Diaz and Nico Williams.
However, the Catalan club isn’t as financially strong as it was some time ago, so Tottenham might not have to face a lot of competition from them. Philogene is a versatile player who can perform on either side of the pitch.
Last season, the 22-year-old made 33 appearances for Hull City and spent his time playing on both sides of the pitch. At times Philogene was deployed in the middle line and he also spent time playing as a forward when the team needed him to.
Despite all the changes in position the English player adapted well and ended up recording 18 goal contributions for the Championship side. With a little more exposure to football at the top level, 22-year-old Philogene could grow to be a star.
The English winger would fit right in with the young core that Ange Postecoglou has been nurturing since he arrived in North London.
