Tottenham are leading the race for £25m French playmaker
Tottenham are currently in the lead to sign AS Monaco midfielder, Youssouf Fofana. The 25-year-old will be out of contract next summer so the French side will try and move him to avoid a free transfer, as per The Standard.
However, the Lilywhites will not have an easy time trying to land Fofana. A deal for him would cost around £25m which is a sum that the other competitors, Manchester United, Juventus, and Arsenal can all afford.
Fofana made a total of 35 appearances for Monaco last season and spent most of his time operating in the midfield. He proved to be an excellent middleman and even posed a threat in the final third of the pitch as he finished his season with eight goal contributions.
Fofana has spent four years on Monaco’s books since arriving in 2020. During his time with the French side, the 25-year-old has proved to be a solid option in the middle of the pitch. Most teams would be much better off with a player of Fofana’s quality in the middle and the same is true for Tottenham.
It will not be easy to sign Fofana by any means. However, the Spurs find themselves in the lead and must strike while the iron is hot.
