Lucas Radabe is not happy Leeds United sold Archie Gray but praises the new Tottenham Hotspur signing

Ex-Leeds United captain Lucas Radabe tweeted his displeasure (h/t Yorkshire Evening Post) with the decision of his former club to sell talented youngster Archie Gray to Tottenham Hotspur but praised the player for his decision-making.

The decision by the Whites to sell their academy graduate to Spurs has not gone down well with the fanbase despite the fact that the Championship club were kind of forced into dealing their hand to comply with the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules.

Gray is now Tottenham Hotspur’s new number 14. The teenager comes to the North London club with a lot of promise, having already dazzled the Championship with his incredible talent at such a young age.

Already capped by England at the U-21 level, Gray’s potential is obvious. If he can keep developing at a similar rate and hone his all-round game, the sky is the limit for him and he could become one of the best in the world in his position. However, let’s not count our chickens before they hatch.

Speaking about Leeds’ decision to sell him, here is what Radabe had to say on X, although he did add a classy message for the teenager.

“Losing our best players @LUFC is concerning especially young talent. It’s all about career choices. Well done Archie Gray and all the best”

One thing that Gray knows when he joins Tottenham Hotspur is the fact that he will be working under a manager who places immense trust in youth and is not afraid to make them starters if they impress him in training.

Since the Australian gaffer took charge at the N17, the signings he has made have exhibited a clear pattern – Radu Dragusin, Micky van de Ven, Lucas Bergvall and so on. Spurs are building an exciting team for the present and the future and Gray perfectly fits the bill.

Gray would fit in like a glove in Tottenham’s system. He can easily play as a right-back in Postecoglou’s tactical setup, inverting from defence into midfield and adding an extra body there for control.

Tottenham are building a really exciting project under Ange Postecoglou and for the first time in many years, the signings are reflecting a certain philosophy that the manager wants. It’s the gaffer’s team and that’s how it must be. Let’s hope Gray can soar to great heights in a Spurs shirt in the coming seasons.
