Fabrizio Romano offers latest Tottenham update on former Barcelona ace

Spurs block AC Milan’s advances for Emerson Royal

Tottenham Hotspur defender Emerson Royal has been linked with a move away from White Hart Lane as the North Londoners continue their mass exodus this summer in bid to vacant spots in the dressing room for ceiling raising players.

Emerson Royal has been a surplus to needs at Hotspur Way after Pedro Porro took over his position in the starting eleven.

As Spurs prepare to sell the former Barcelona full-back, Italian side AC Milan have expressed interest in signing Emerson Royal this summer. There has been many reports and scheduled talks between both the clubs in the last couple of weeks, albeit to no conclusion.

There have been reports about the Lilywhites knocking back a bid by the Serie A side for the 25-year-old, per BBC journalist Nizaar Kinsella. And transfer guru Fabrizio Romano gives a recent update about the transfer.

Royal rumble on hold

The Italian insists that that have been no contacts between both the clubs with the Premier League giants still holding out for 20m fees for the South American defender. He also suggests that the talks are not advancing at this stage.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, Romano wrote:

“Understand talks between AC Milan and Tottenham for Emerson Royal are currently in stand-by. Negotiations have gone cold after Spurs rejecting two approaches and still asking for more than €20m fee. Milan and Spurs are not advancing, at this stage.”
