Danish maestro heading for the exit door at Tottenham?
Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has been linked with a move away from White Hart Lane this summer owing to a lack of minutes under his belt at N17.
John Wenham, owner of the reputed Spurs podcast Lilywhites Rose, insists that the Danish midfielder’s exit will help the Lilywhites address a key issue in the squad. He also acknowledges that Hojbjerg is in line to secure a Tottenham exit.
Hojbjerg exit could free up non-homegrown quota space at N17
Hojbjerg has multiple suitors lined up for his signature. Galatasaray’s vice president has already admitted the Turkish club’s interest in acquiring the midfielder. Meanwhile, Napoli and Atletico Madrid are also interested in landing the 28-year-old maestro this summer.
Wenham also insists that, with the quality Hojbjerg possesses, he sees him not moving to Turkey just yet. He also suggests how his departure would help Tottenham re-map the homegrown
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, Wenham said:
“There are rumours every day that Hojbjerg is moving to Turkey, but there doesn’t seem to be much substance to that. I still think he will likely end up at Atletico Madrid or Borussia Dortmund. I feel that he deserves that caliber of move.
“Hopefully something will be finalized soon because the more non-homegrown players sold, the easier it is to comply with those homegrown squad rules.
“That will then allow us to bring other players to the club.”

As per regulations, clubs competing in the Premier League need to have a certain number of home-grown players in their registered squad. Therefore, a Hojbjerg exit opens up another space to sign a non-homegrown player in Ange Postecoglou’s squad.
The club would want to ensure that the non-homegrown player quota is filled efficiently going forward to maintain a balanced and compliant squad composition under league regulations.
