Tottenham star Richarlison is a top transfer priority for Al-Ahli
According to the Metro, Saudi Pro League club Al-Ahli has identified Tottenham Hotspur star Richarlison and Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus as transfer priorities for this summer window.
Richarlison’s future at the N17 is far from clear. Despite having a decent season under Ange Postecoglou, the Brazilian could be on the move with huge interest in him from the Saudi Pro League clubs. The player was labelled a ‘star off the pitch’ last season.
It’s safe to say the ex-Evertonian’s move to Spurs hasn’t worked out as one would have expected. The ‘pigeon’ was expected to be one of the club’s most important players, especially after Harry Kane left the club but things haven’t panned out as expected.
There was a phase last season when the 27-year-old was scoring goals for fun. It looked like a definitive turning point in his Spurs career but injury woes curtailed his progress. Thus, we are back to square one.
Now, Al-Ahli have expressed interest in taking Richarlison off our hands. Not just the 27-year-old, the SPL club also want to sign his compatriot Gabriel Jesus from Arsenal. It’s still not clear if it’s going to be one or the other or both players.
Al-Ahli have a number of stars in their ranks like ex-Chelsea shot-stopper Eduardo Mendy and Roberto Firmino. Even Riyad Mahrez plays for them but it looks like they are looking to reinforce again this summer.
It does look like Jesus will be their preferred buy but the Gunners are unlikely to sell him. This could prompt Al-Ahli to look at us and try and sign Richarlison. For the right fee, Spurs must consider selling him.
If Richarlison stays, he can still play an important role in the upcoming season. However, if we can sell him for a good fee and reinvest the money into signing a new number nine, it might prove to be an upgrade on the player.
