Tottenham fan podcast owner casts doubt on Jacob Ramsey transfer
Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for Aston Villa midfielder Jacob Ramsey as the North Londoners look to add high-potential players to Ange Postecoglou‘s squad ahead of the next campaign.
While Jacob Ramsey has been highly rated by fans and pundits, John Wenham, owner of the reputed Spurs podcast Lilywhites Rose, insists that the 23-year-old does not possess the quality to play for Spurs. He suggests that the club should rather move for long-term targets than pursue a deal for the Aston Villa midfielder.
Wenham slams potential Ramsey move
The Lilywhites are closing in on a deal worth £19 million plus Lo Celso to bring Jacob Ramsey to North London this summer, per TyC Sports via X. However, Wenham, in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, revealed why he isn’t really keen on the deal.
Wenham said:
“I’m not sold on Ramsey at all, to be honest with you. I’d much rather we went out and signed a player like Neto — someone exciting. I don’t see Ramsey being better than anyone we’ve already got at the club. I’d much rather see someone else sign. However, the club obviously wants him, and Johan Lange must know something from his time at Villa. Maybe there is something in that, but I’m not convinced.”
While the club signs Ramsey, getting Gio Lo Celso off the wage bill at N17 is a huge boost for Tottenham. He failed to replicate his consistent potential at White Hart Lane.
Ramsey has shown high potential at Villa, and Spurs would not mind a young midfielder with immense Premier League experience who has a high ceiling. Yes, there is still ample room for development, but that is what you expect from young players. Unai Emery even called him an ‘important player’ last season.
