Napoli want to reunite Tottenham star Dejan Kulusevski with Antonio Conte
According to Italian outlet Calciomercato, Napoli want to hand Antonio Conte a gift by signing Tottenham Hotspur winger Dejan Kulusevski and reuniting him with his ex-boss this summer.
The Italian boss has taken charge of Naples following the horrific campaign that they had last time around. Napoli put up one of the worst title defences in history, struggling to adapt to life after Luciano Spaletti.
The Serie A club have taken corrective measures, bringing in a serial winner like Antonio Conte and giving him the tools to succeed. One such signing that the board want to gift their new coach is Swedish winger Kulusevski.
The 24-year-old was brought in from Juventus by Conte to the N17 and has been at the club for 2.5 seasons now. he has established himself as a regular starter under Ange Postecoglou but lost his place towards the fag end of last season.
An energetic winger who rarely stops running on the pitch, Kulusevski is the perfect Antonio Conte player. He would play a starring role in the Italian coach’s system and, understandably, Napoli want to sign him.
The Serie A club are set to lose Jesper Lindstrom imminently and will need a replacement. This is where the 2000-born winger at Spurs comes into the picture but Napoli can forget about signing him this summer.
Kulusevski has an important role to play in Postecoglou’s project. The Aussie tactician uses him both on the right wing and as a #10 in his system. There is no reason for Spurs to accept a bid for him or the player to leave in search of a new project.
If Tottenham aspire to ditch the ‘best of the rest’ tag and become a genuine title contender, they need to be able to retain world-class talent like Kulusevski. It looks like they’ll manage to do that this summer.

Sorry, Antonio Conte – for all that you did for this club, we do not feel like handing out a favour to kickstart your new project. You will have to cast your net elsewhere.
