Tottenham eyeing Rennes starlet Desire Doue amidst stiff competition
Tottenham Hotspur are looking to bring French prodigy Desire Doue to White Hart Lane in the ongoing summer transfer window.
The North Londoners have been looking to sign young players with high potential in the ongoing window, and they have enjoyed a radiant start to their prospects of landing talented youngsters. Spurs have already signed Archie Gray from Leeds United, and Swede maestro Lucas Bergvall joined from Djurgarden.
Wenham backs Spurs to win Doue race
Spurs have now been linked with a move to bring Rennes winger to the N17 this summer, although they face strong competition from Bayern Munich and PSG for his signatures. John Wenham, owner of the reputed Spurs podcast Lilywhites Rose, insists that the North Londoners could beat the European giants in the race to land Doue’s services this summer.
He believes that the forward would be an exciting addition to the Spurs roster.
Doue is due to decide his future soon, although any contacts with Tottenham have gone cold, per the latest update by Fabrizio Romano. However, Wenham, in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, has backed the club to rekindle their interest in Doue.
Wenham said:
“I think this signing would fit in with the obvious strategy at the club of signing the most exciting young talent around. The likes of Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall have been signed, and Doué would add to that list.
“He is heavily linked to Munich and PSG. However, to Spurs’ credit, so was Luka Vušković, and so was Radu Drăgușin. They managed to do those deals and convince the players that they were the club to join, so why can’t they do it again?”
Desire Doue is possibly the most talented player on the move this summer, and with his contract expiring in 2026 (Transfermarkt), Rennes and the teenager don’t have much time to ponder about the future. If the French giants refuse to sell Doue this summer, his valuation will only keep dropping.
Looking at the opportunity in hand, multiple European elites, including Bayern Munich and PSG, are ready to take advantage of the situation.
