Tottenham look to build on progress with Karim Adeyemi signing

Tottenham Hotspur are looking to build on the progress that the club has made under Ange Postecoglou, and former Spurs defender Alan Hutton insists that the club can take the current roster to the “next level” with the signing of Borussia Dortmund winger Karim Adeyemi.

The 22-year-old has been told that he can look for a new club despite playing an integral role in Dortmund’s run to the UEFA Champions League final, where they were beaten by Real Madrid.

The German winger has been linked with a highly anticipated move to the Premier League, with the likes of Chelsea, Newcastle United, West Ham United, and Spurs interested in acquiring his services this summer.

Although any move to White Hart Lane will only be probable when all the financial terms are right for Daniel Levy to conclude the transfer, Hutton believes that Adeyemi possesses the right skill set and qualities to seamlessly play on Ange Postecoglou’s side next season.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, Hutton said:

“I think so. I can keep saying the words ‘he’s a defender’s nightmare’ but that’s what he is. He’d give a fullback a sleepless night. He’s very direct, pacey, can go both ways and really gets the fans excited so I’m not surprised this is what they’re looking at.

“The style of football that Tottenham play, that’s what it’s like. It’s all action and all gungho to really get at the opposition and score as many goals as you want so it doesn’t really surprise me.

“Again, it will come down to costs, fees and wages and things like that and if they can get a deal done.

“But look, Tottenham are a massive club and you can tell by the names that they’re going for that they’re really looking to take it to the next level so the next few weeks are going to be really interesting.”

The North Londoners are likely to sign a wide forward this summer as they look for someone who can compete for the starting spots so players like Bryan Gil can be moved on from the N17. The Spaniard, whose time with Spurs has been far from a success has been continually linked with an exit.

It would not be a surprise if Spurs submitted an official proposal to land the 22-year-old, especially considering his raw qualities and extremely high potential.

Hopefully, the financial terms are not overboard and the Lilywhites can persuade the player to make a N17 move over the rivals.
