Should Tottenham sign Scott McTominay?
Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay as the North Londoners look to secure depth in the midfield this summer.
The North Londoners have been linked with a move for the United midfielder, per The Sun. The Lilywhites are expected to hijack a deal for McTominay from under Fulham’s noses in a £40 million transfer.
McTominay would be a solid addition to Tottenham’s midfield
Former Spurs head scout Bryan King expresses his disbelief over the fact that the Manchester Reds are willing to sell the 27-year-old midfielder who was once tipped to be the ‘future of Manchester United’. He also suggests that the Scotland international would start under Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham.
King believes that Scott McTominay would be an upgrade on the current options at White Hart Lane. Speaking in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, King said:
“It surprises me that United would let him go. McTominay has bailed the manager out time and time again with his goals. However, we don’t know what goes on behind the scenes between him and Erik ten Hag. I’m shocked they’d let him leave.
“If he wants first-team football I think he would get it at Spurs. I’d sooner start him than Yves Bissouma or Pape Matar Sarr. He’d fill me with more confidence.”
McTominay played a magnificent season at Old Trafford last year. He showed his ability and potential to clutch games on his own, as the 27-year-old scored ten goals wearing the Manchester United badge last season.
He proved vital in big games and had a never-tired presence in the middle of the park.
Tottenham have already signed Archie Gray from Leeds United and Lucas Bergvall from Djurgarden. Both of the aforementioned players will fit in the middle of the park, although they are still too young and have ample development. McTominay would be a massive signing to ensure that the aforementioned duo get the time and space to develop to their potential.
