Johan Lange identifies Eberechi Eze as the Son Heung-min replacement at Tottenham
According to Football Transfers, director Johan Lange has identified Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze as the long-term replacement for Son Heung-min at Tottenham Hotspur.
As much as Spurs would love to see their captain keep playing, there will come a day when they have to face the harsh reality of letting him go. Son is 32 and whilst he has a few years left at the top, there isn’t a lot left.
It would be advisable for Tottenham to find a long-term replacement for the South Korean superstar and groom him at the club while he is still here. Johan Lange has narrowed down on Eberechi Eze.
The ex-QPR winger has become a star for Crystal Palace over the last season, becoming one of the most sought-after players in England and even getting called up to Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions squad ahead of Jack Grealish and Marcus Rashford.
Whilst at QPR, Eze was nicknamed a ‘drunken master’ for his languid and lazy playstyle. The 26-year-old has continued a similar trend in the Premier League, often leaving defenders gaping in thin air.
A left-winger who can also play as an attacking midfielder, Eze is different from Son Heung-min but can be the future of the club on the left wing. The 26-year-old deserves to play for a club bigger in stature than the Eagles.
If Spurs sign Eze, he will also help towards the registration rules and meet the home-grown quota. This is a luxury that is often understated but the club will know the massive upsides that this transfer has.
With Son still at the club, Eze can be used in rotation with him on the left wing or in rotation with James Maddison as the #10. The South Korean can also be deployed as the central striker to accommodate Eze.
