Hutton suggests Kulusevski sale could be beneficial for Spurs
Tottenham Hotspur winger Dejan Kulusevski has been subject to surprise links with a move away from White Hart Lane, and former Spurs defender Alan Hutton backs Spurs to sell the former Juventus star.
Multiple Tottenham Hotspur players have been linked with an N17 exit this summer as the Lilywhites look for a mass exodus. However, Aston Villa have made a surprise inquiry to land Swedish forward Dejan Kulusevski, per Football Transfers.
The interest from the Villa side comes on the back of Tottenham’s sporting director, Johan Lange, initiating discussions with Wolves over signing Portuguese international Pedro Neto. The 24-year-old has been linked with a move to North London for quite a while, and he may take on Kulusevski’s place at Hotspur Way.
Tottenham could offload Kulusevski to fund Neto Pursuit
Alan Hutton, in an exclusive interview with Football Insider, insists on how Tottenham can push the ceiling of the roster at Ange Postecoglou’s disposal by selling Kulusevski.
Hutton said:
“Sometimes I’ve been on the fence with it. I watch him, and I go, ‘He is outstanding,’ then other games I’m not so sure. Of course, he’s a technically gifted player and a talented player. But I’m just thinking to really kick on and be that top four team [that] they want to; I just feel that sometimes he misses a yard of pace.
“If he had that burst of acceleration, I think he would be right up there.
“It could be something that they might look into if they can get a top-quality player coming the other way that they feel is better or can enhance the squad. I think it’s something that they will look at.”
Kulusevski has a contract with the club until 2028 and is an integral presence at White Hart Lane. The Swede not only takes on the responsibilities on the right flank but is also an excellent option in the middle. He has been a creative outlet on the right and in the middle, which makes him suitable to play an essential role under Ange Postecoglou’s tutelage. The Aussie tactician even labelled him as ‘excellent’ after a game last season.
His contributions in the last campaign were poor, but owing to his high quality, the 24-year-old managed to contribute eight goals and provide three assists in 36 Premier League appearances.

This move looks highly unlikely at the moment, although any potential acquisition of Pedro Neto or any other high-potential winger may force the Spurs to consider his sale.
