Tottenham commit to Bissouma amid midfield overhaul

Tottenham Hotspur have no plans to sell midfielder Yves Bissouma in the ongoing summer transfer window, per Football Insider.

The North Londoners have enjoyed massive progress under Ange Postecoglou in the last season, and Daniel Levy is set to back the Australian gaffer with much-needed reinforcements to the current roster. However, for incomings to come, there needs to be some change in the right direction, and a few spots need to be vacated from the current dressing room at Hotspur Way.

This prompted the club to consider selling players surplus to the needs at White Hart Lane. While many initially thought Bissouma would be a part of the summer exodus, the boss holds a 2022 signing as a key member of the squad, with the former Lille midfielder said to have looked “hugely impressive” in the pre-season so far. The ex-Brighton star was labelled a “top-class” midfielder.

Bissouma still has a contract at N17 until 2026, and he played an integral role in Tottenham’s push for Champions League places last season.

While Bissouma is set to stay at the club, Tottenham are set for a major reshuffle in the middle of the park. Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has one foot out the door, while Oliver Skipp is also linked with a move away from N17.

The club intends to keep the Mali international with two significant departures in the midfield.

Many Tottenham fans would be hoping for a huge season from Bissouma as he takes on a senior role going into the upcoming season. It is to be seen if he can replicate his Brighton performances at White Hart Lane.
