Spurs in hunt for Hotshot left-back
Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for Lecce left-back Patrick Dorgu in the ongoing summer transfer window.
The North Londoners are in dire need of a new left-back going into the next season. Ange Postecoglou had to make do with fillers in the position at the business end of the last campaign owing to a lack of a proper backup to Destiny Udogie.
This raises the need for a new player who can act as an alternative to the Italian full-back. This is where Patrick Dorgu comes in, and the latest reports suggest that the Lilywhites have been pursuing a move for the 19-year-old alongside Napoli, Arsenal, and Chelsea, per Calcio Leece.
Can Tottenham steal Dorgu from Napoli and Chelsea?
The Gunners are pursuing a move for Riccardo Calafiori, and considering the fact that they have a couple of options at the left-back position, it feels safe to rule them out of the race for Dorgu.
Chelsea have also recently acquired Renato Veiga, and the Blues already have Marc Cucurella and Ben Chilwell on their roster, which makes it a tricky deal for the West Londoners to convince the player about long-term prospects at the Bridge unless they sell one of the veteran players. The player has revealed though that it his dream to play for the West London club.
Tottenham, on the other hand, have laid ample groundwork for Patrick Dorgu, his representatives, and Leece. This makes White Hart Lane an ideal destination if the 19-year-old were to move this summer window.
While Spurs push to swoop ahead of Premier League clubs, the Naples-based club has made an initial offer for the Denmark U21 international; however, the offer is said to be far from the Italian club’s asking price of €30 million.
Tottenham will need to move fast to get their hands on Dorgu. It is time for Daniel Levy to flex his financial muscle once again to acquire one of the high-quality prospects in his position.
