No reunion between Tottenham and Harry Kane in Seoul
Tottenham Hotspur are preparing for the upcoming campaign as pre-season is already underway with the North Londoners going on an Asia tour this summer. Spurs are set to meet German giants Bayern Munich in Seoul, South Korea, on 3rd August, where 67,000 people are expected to cheer for the teams.
When the fixture was originally announced, this was expected to be an emotional reunion for Harry Kane, as he would face his boyhood club for the first time after his move to Germany last summer.
However, the England international is expected to miss out on the reunion following the Three Lions Euro 2024 heartbreak. The striker played for the entirety of the summer with Gareth Southgate’s squad as they reached the finals earlier this month. England went on to eventually lose against Spain.
While the former winger netted three goals in the tournament, his performances were questioned by the supporters and pundits as his displays were highly inconsistent and questionable. Kane recovered for the European Championships after missing out on the conclusion of the last season with a back injury.
His busy summer means he will get an extended holiday, and this means he will not be back for Bayern Munich when they take on Spurs in South Korea on August 3.
Bayern Munich’s new coach Vincent Kompany confirmed Kane’s absence, saying: “Harry Kane, Alphonso Davies, Dayot Upamecano, and Kingsley Coman won’t be there, but hopefully for the first cup game.”
Fortunately, there is a second chance for Kane to take on his former side, and this time in a more emotional scene as Bayern are scheduled to visit North London for the Malta Cup on August 10.
