Out the door? Emerson Royal linked with a move away from Tottenham
Tottenham Hotspur defender Emerson Royal has been linked with a move away from White Hart Lane this summer. While no transfer has materialized, there have been constant on-and-off conversations going on with Italian giants AC Milan about a possible transfer.
The North Londoners are looking to build up on the progress made under Ange Postecoglou, and for any incoming, they need to vacant the dressing room at Hotspur Way. Spurs are looking to clear out the surplus, and the Brazilian defender is one of the players linked with a move away from the N17.
Spurs signed Emerson Royal from La Liga giants Barcelona in a highly anticipated deal for £25.8 million in 2021. However, the South American hasn’t been able to replicate his Spanish top-tier form in the Premiership.
And he has fallen behind the pecking order at N17, with Pedro Porro taking over his place in Ange Postecoglou’s side last season. This has prompted the club to consider selling Royal.
AC Milan’s advances for Emerson Royal
While AC Milan has already agreed on personal terms with the player, they are unable to get Spurs to ask for the defender. Both clubs did not get back on the negotiation table for a while, and the deal looked good. Albeit, Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio insists that the potential transfer is still alive.
He writes that Milan and Spurs are getting close to agreeing on common terms for the transfer to come to its conclusive stages, and the Italian giants are expecting the deal to be agreed upon “in the next few days.”
