Levy’s astute deal-making shines again
Daniel Levy is known to be astute with his transfer dealings and has been one of the most influential figures in world football. He might have made another classic negotiation deal that can profit the club with significant money that can be added to the transfer war chest this summer.
The Lilywhites signed Jack Clarke from Leeds United in a deal believed to be worth £8.5 million back in 2019, and his arrival at the club marked an end to the North Londoners’ exile from the transfer market. Clarke was the first transfer that Spurs made since signing Lucas Moura 18 months ago.
Clarke, who was still a teenager when he initially arrived at Hotspur Way, had a difficult time finding his feet in North London. He only made four appearances for the club and spent the majority of the time away on loan to Leeds United, Queens Park Rangers, and Stoke City. He was regarded as a “super talent” by Sunderland boss Mowbray.
He joined Sunderland on an initial loan deal in 2022; however, the winger managed to impress the official at Black Cats, enough for them to convert the loan deal into a permanent one just a few months later.
Spurs managed to negotiate a 40 per cent sell-on clause for Clarke when he was sold to Sunderland. And the North Londoners could be set for a massive fee, with the player linked to a Premier League move.
Spurs to pocket £7m from Clarke sale
Clarke is all set to return to the English top tier, with newly promoted Ipswich Town looking to acquire the midfielder in a £18 million transfer, per iNews.
If Sunderland managers sell Clarke at the aforementioned price, they may net a fee in the region of £7.2 million.
Considering the fact that Jack Clarke had a difficult time at White Hart Lane, getting a £7 million fee would show how Levy once again did brilliant business.
