Tottenham star Emerson Royal is close to an exit
Tottenham Hotspur defender Emerson Royal has been linked with a move away from N17 this summer. While no transfer has materialized, there have been constant on-and-off conversations going on with Italian giants AC Milan about a possible transfer.
Tottenham signed Emerson Royal from La Liga giants Barcelona in a highly anticipated deal for £25.8 million in 2021.
The North Londoners are looking to resolve his future sooner rather than in the lagging second of the transfer window. Now, in the latest developments, the club has received a substantial bid for the South American defender, which matches the club’s valuation of the player.
Emerson Royal gets surprise suitors
Turkish giants Galatasaray have submitted a new bid for Emerson Royal, which is near Spurs valuation of €20m for the former Barcelona star, per PL Brasil.
However, despite the mega bid from Galatasaray, Royal, as of now, is preferring to move to AC Milan.
Tottenham have been eager to let Emerson Royal out the door this summer, albeit Milan have been a tough club to deal with along the way. They have initiated a star-stop-esque conversation that has concluded to nothing as of yet.
While the latest reports on the Milan front suggest that the Serie A side have resumed talks for Royal once again, and this time around there are expectations that common terms could be reached and a deal could be concluded.
Emerson Royal has struggled to replicate his La Liga form in the English top tier and has seen Porro jump ahead in the pecking order in his preferred right-back position at White Hart Lane. He has been surplus to requirements for the majority of the last season.
Should a deal with Milan be finalized, the 25-year-old will move to the Italian giants. If not, Spurs have a decent backup option in Galatasaray and can initiate a deal with the Turks.
