Tottenham in talks with bargain Harry Kane replacement who will be a pure 'Daniel Levy deal'

Tottenham step up pursuit of Lille star Jonathan David

Tottenham Hotspur have been looking to bring a marquee striker this summer, with multiple players subject to links with a move to White Hart Lane, and Lille striker Jonathan David has been rumoured to be the prime target for the Lilywhites as of now.

The Canadian ace is a name linked with a move to Spurs substantially during the commencement of the summer window; however, the links dried out eventually. However, it appears that the club was doing its due diligence on the player off late, as they are very keen on bringing David to N17.

Updates off late suggest that significant progress has been made in the club’s pursuit of the 24-year-old.

Per the latest reports by Football Insider, Daniel Levy & Co. are in talks with Jonathan David’s current employers over a possible move to North London.

Tottenham set to land bargain striker

Lille president Olivier Letang has indicated that the striker can leave for a fee of around £20m this summer, which makes a possible move to Tottenham highly anticipated as they look to enhance their chances going into the upcoming campaign.

The complement of his goal-scoring abilities with the bargain fee makes him an ideal Daniel Levy signing. Journalist Ben Jacobs recently described a potential move for the 24-year-old as a ‘Daniel Levy deal.’

The number nine scored 26 goals and provided a further tally of nine assists in 47 appearances last season. This highlights his quality in the final third, an area where the North Londoners are looking to improve on this summer.

His arrival would at least address the void left by Harry Kane’s departure in the striking role for the upcoming campaign.

If Tottenham are successful in securing his signatures, he will become the first marquee arrival of the summer.
