New chapter for Parrott as he leaves Tottenham behind
Tottenham Hotspur academy graduate Troy Parrott has spoken about his departure from White Hart Lane.
The 22-year-old enjoyed an impressive loan at Excelsior in the last campaign as he managed to net 17 goals playing for the Dutch side.
His impressive performances at Excelsior earned him interest from one of the Dutch giants, AZ Alkmaar, who snapped his services on a permanent deal earlier this summer.
Now the striker has opened up about leaving the N17-based side in search of regular minutes under his belt.
Can he shine at AZ Alkmaar?
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Sports News, Parrott said:
“I don’t want to put pressure on myself, but if I play well and help the team, I hope it works out.
“I think AZ is a good place where players get the opportunity to develop. I have been at Tottenham for a long time, but it was time to move on.”
Parrott needs to have regular minutes to ensure his development at this point, and playing a bits-and-parts role at Tottenham would not have satisfied his needs.
He will now look to establish himself as an integral member of his new employers and continue to aid his potential in the Dutch league.
He has shown his quality to succeed in the Edervise in the past season, and now he would be looking to replicate a similar impact for AZ Alkmaar.
Meanwhile, for Tottenham, they are already highly stocked in the attacking department as of now, and Ange Postecoglou would have struggled to provide Trot with some game time, especially considering the fact that the club are still looking to sign a new striker this summer.
