Tottenham set to battle Liverpool and Arsenal for Federico Chiesa
According to a report by Caught Offside, Tottenham Hotspur are set to battle Liverpool and Arsenal for talented Juventus winger Federico Chiesa who is out of favour under Thiago Motta.
The 26-year-old winger was once considered one of the most promising youngsters coming through in Italian football. His performances in the 2020 Euros in which his nation was victorious will forever be written in folklore.
Even for Juventus, Chiesa started very well until an ACL injury halted his progress. Every since the serious injury, the winger has looked a pale shadow of his former self and has lost his explosive nature.
Motta, who is spearheading a new project in Turin has regarded Chiesa as ‘surplus to requirements’. The Italian giants have decided to look past the player whose contract runs down at the end of the season.
This has prompted Premier League clubs to look at this as a market opportunity and make a move for the Italian. With less than 12 months left on his deal, Juventus are likely to let him leave for a cut-price deal.
Investing in Chiesa right now would be like investing in stocks when they hit the lower circuit in the market. His chips have never been lower and he would be available for a bargain fee but the stocks could keep rising going forward.
It is not without merit that Italian legend Giorgio Chiellini called the winger ‘unstoppable’. There was a phase when he was simply unplayable and Postecoglou will be hoping to get him back up to those levels.
It’s still not clear why Juventus don’t want to persist with someone as talented as Chiesa but their loss could be our gain. Tottenham must look to take advantage of this situation and sign the 26-year-old.
