Reason why Tottenham Hotspur are yet to commit to a deal for Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze
Tottenham Hotspur’s activity in the transfer market is reaching a feverish pitch with Eberechi Eze being the latest name to be heavily linked with a move to the N17. The Crystal Palace star has caught the eye of top clubs in the PL.
Eze and Michael Olise are two stars who shone brightly for Palace in a difficult season last time around. The arrival of Oliver Glasner gave the duo a chance to thrive in an attacking system and they took it.
The 26-year-old English winger/ attacking midfielder was recently on Three Lions duty in the Euros. He had a few cameo appearances off the bench where he showcased his quality but could not break into the first team.
Eze brings a lot to the table. He is an excellent dribbler with a keen eye for a pass. He can also chip in with goals consistently. The ex-QPR star was labelled a ‘drunken master’ for his languid style of play.
The Eagles star is also equally adept playing as a #10. He has the game to adapt to such a role if required. However, anyone who sees him play would concur that his future probably lies as a left-winger.
According to Give Me Sport, the England international has a £60m plus £8m in add-ons release clause in his current contract. The reason why Tottenham are yet to commit to a deal is because they are aware they have no room for negotiation.
Having already sold Olise to Bayern, Palace are in no particular need to generate cash through player sales. They could make life difficult for Spurs unless the club is willing to pay his release clause outright.
If signed, Eze could be Tottenham’s future on the left wing. Son Heung-min is getting older with every passing day and father time waits for no one. The Crystal Palace star could be the perfect player for Spurs.
