Tottenham target Federico Chiesa wants to move to Manchester United
Federico Chiesa has been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur in recent weeks but the player also has interest from the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Bayern Munich who want to give the 26-year-old an out from Juventus.
According to Italian publication La Gazzetta Dello Sport, the player has indicated that his preferred destination would be Man Utd despite interest from other clubs. That said, he is actively looking for a move abroad.
One of the first destinations that Thiago Motta made as Juventus manager was to let Chiesa know that he doesn’t feature in his plans. This put the Italian club in a bit of a pickle as the 26-year-old’s contract expires in less than 12 months and the club had to find a buyer.
Chiesa was immediately offered out to all the top clubs in Europe with particular interest from the Premier League. AS Roma also wanted to sign the player but the Italian seems to have set his sights on an abroad move.
Chiesa was a star for Juventus when he joined them. He received endorsement from then Old Lady superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, who thought very highly of the player who caught the eye in the Euros 2020.
However, in the past couple of seasons, Chiesa has struggled due to an ACL injury. Ever since the Italian has been a pale shadow of his former self. He hasn’t taken on his man like he used to before and this has affected his game.
Whilst he might have lost a chunk of his pace, the Juventus outcast still has a good pass and can find the back of the net consistently. He is worth taking a chance on for any of these clubs, as long as they find a way to help him regain his confidence.
Man Utd could do with a new right winger in the squad and Chiesa perfectly fits the bill. He would also thrive in Erik ten Hag’s system which is quite direct. The only question mark would be if he can handle the physicality in the Premier League.
