Désiré Doué unlikely to move to Spurs this summer
According to GiveMeSport, Spurs still want Désiré Doué even though a move to North London is unlikely for the French teenager.
The 19-year-old is already a guaranteed starter for Rennes now, which has prompted several big clubs to pry him away this summer.
With the likes of PSG and Bayern Munich leading the race for Doué, Spurs are realistic about their chances of landing him.
Born in Angers, Doué is a Stade Rennais man through and through, having been at their academy ever since he was six until 2021, when he graduated to their senior setup.
The 2005-born attacking midfielder is capable of playing both centrally and out wide. He is at the ongoing Paris Olympics representing Thierry Henry’s France U23 side.
Doué’s current €10k-per-week contract at Rennes is set to run until June 2026.
Good of Spurs to be realistic
Spurs Technical Director Johan Lange wants the club to become an attractive prospect for youngsters. This is good. But what is also good is Spurs being realistic about their chances of landing Doué.
The Lilywhites may have an attractive project to offer players, but they are also trophyless in 16 years in the face of serial winners like PSG and Bayern; they are not always going to entice players to move to them and not the bigger names.

Of course, this does not mean Doué will immediately find a prospering environment at either of those clubs, but it is important to understand that optics are important for players just as much they are important for us fans.
