Tottenham can now land Fiorentina right-back Michael Kayode for just €20m
We covered a story earlier in the day revealing that Emerson Royal is looking to sort his Tottenham Hotspur exit by this week and it looks like the club has identified Michael Kayode, the Serie A star as his replacement.
AC Milan are keen on offering the Brazilian right-back a new adventure away from the N17. If Emerson Royal leaves, Tottenham might look in the market for a replacement but do they really have to?
Even after losing the ex-Barcelona man, Pedro Porro, the first-choice right-back will continue as the starter next season. Should the need arise, Spurs also have Archie Gray, their new signing who can play in that position.
That said, if Postecoglou thinks Gray must not be the right-back backup for next season, the club might turn their attention to Fiorentina right-back Michael Kayode. The Serie A right-back is considered one of the best youngsters in the league.
Kayode’s manager was full of praise for the youngster after his scintillating Serie A debut, claiming that he was a player ‘who fears nothing’. The 20-year-old has since gone on to play football in a manner that suggests just that.
According to Corriere dello Sport today via Sports Witness, Tottenham could now land Kayode this summer for around €20m. Aston Villa made a €15m offer for him which was turned down but an additional €5m should be sufficient to sign the youngster, unlike the previously stated €30m.
All things considered, Kayode is what one would consider a market opportunity. This transfer has Fabio Paratici’s class stamped all over it and it won’t be a surprise to see Tottenham pull off this signing.
Tottenham are no strangers to signing from the Serie A. They have been one of the most active recruiters from the Italian league and poaching a player of Kayode’s talent would hold the club in good stead.
