Spurs eyeing move for Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanke
Tottenham Hotspur have been keen on signing players for their frontline this season with the club ready to back Ange Postecoglou in his pursuit of Champions League qualification for next season, having finished fifth in the Premier League in 2023/24.
A striker’s signing has been mooted as one of their top priorities, with Fabrizio Romano confirming the same, and adding that Spurs have shown interest in Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanke.
Jurgen Klopp, who managed the player, spoke very highly of him earlier this year as he said:
“He was probably not the most clinical yet (in his early days at Liverpool) but the talent was obvious. It was the right decision to go to Bournemouth, last season he scored enough goals but this season he is up there with the greatest.”
The 26-year-old scored 19 goals in the Premier League last season, although a deal for him has been labelled as ‘difficult’ by Romano as he remains a very crucial part of Bournemouth’s plans.
However, Solanke would be a fantastic signing for Postecoglou if Tottenham can get a transfer for him across the line.
The Englishman has three more years left on his contract with the Cherries but his valuation stands very reasonable at £34 million, which is expected to be well within Spurs’ budget.
Solanke has the experience of playing in the Premier League for several years, while he has also featured sparingly in the Champions League while at Liverpool.
His most outstanding year was indeed at Bournemouth when he scored 19 goals last season and there is every reason to believe he can carry the rich form if he were to join Postecoglou’s roster.
At six feet tall, Solanke has a great physical strength which works well in his favour in the final third, not least in the Premier League.
He is also a fairly decent playmaker having assisted four goals last season across all competitions.
While Spurs can afford his signing and he even has the potential to be a valuable addition to their squad, it remains to be seen whether Bournemouth are ready to let go of him with only two weeks remaining until the start of the Premier League.
The forward’s stance is also unclear, though logically, a move to north London from Bournemouth would be a significant upgrade for him.

Only time will tell where Solanke plays by the end of the transfer window but it is fair to say that the Cherries hold the lion’s share of the bargaining power for him due to his contract’s validity till 2027.
