Troy Parrott refuses to close the door on Spurs return
In a recent interview given to Dutch outlet De Telegraaf, former Spurs forward Troy Parrott hinted at a possible return to North London later down the line.
The 22-year-old had this short response when asked about that possibility:
“You never know how things are going to go in football.”
As quoted by Football London.
The Republic of Ireland international spent two years in the Spurs academy before breaking into their senior team, though he found opportunities hard to come by and made just four senior appearances for the Lilywhites, providing neither goals nor assists.
Parrott showed promising signs in the Netherlands, however, as he spent a season on loan at Excelsior Rotterdam last season, and despite their relegation, he registered 17 goals and five assists in 32 appearances across all competitions.
He was picked up by Eredivisie side AZ Alkmaar last month for €8 million.
While on Spurs’ books, Parrott also had loan spells with Millwall, Ipswich Town, Milton Keynes Dons, and Preston North End.
Never say never
It’s good to see Parrott has earned himself a move in a league at a level he finds competitive after impressing a season before.
Over the next couple of seasons, he can go about growing himself further and attracting interest from the English big-wigs.

Sure, at 22 he may feel like a bit of a late bloomer for English football, but the likes of Jack Grealish (who moved to Man City at 25), Ollie Watkins and Ivan Toney (both 28) as well as Dominic Solanke (26) can attest to the fact that sometimes the good times arrive a bit late, but they do arrive all the same if you keep plying your trade diligently.
