Spurs in battle to land Wolves winger
Tottenham Hotspur are looking to bring a new forward in the ongoing summer transfer window as the North Londoners look to compound their offensive options, and Wolves winger Pedro Neto has been subject to intense links with a move to Spurs.
Spurs have been linked with multiple wingers along the transfer window, including the likes of Nico Williams and Chiesa; however, the links to both of the aforementioned players have faded, with only Neto’s name prevailing.
The speculation linking the Portuguese with a move to N17 has been compounding since the commencement of the summer transfer window, and the rumours are showing no signs of slowing down.
Earlier this week, reports claimed that the club has stepped up their interest in bringing the 24-year-old winger to White Hart Lane after having discussed personal terms with the player.
O’Neil remains hopeful of keeping Neto amid Spurs links
O’Neil has now broken his silence about ‘absolutely incredible’ Pedro Neto’s potential to continue at Wolverhampton Wanderers beyond the ongoing summer window. The Wolves boss acknowledged the interest in the 24-year-old while insisting on open possibilities that the winger stays put in his current role this summer.
The Wolves boss speaking on the Express and Star podcast said:
“I know how good he is, and I know how well he would do at a big club. Obviously, I want our team here to be unbelievably successful. So I’m hoping that he stays.
“I think so (there’s a chance he stays). There’s nothing going on at this moment from anybody. He’s in a good spot, I’ve spoken to him about how we’re going to play and how it suits him and what a big part he’ll play in it.
“But of course, we’re all grown-ups while you’re having them conversations. If a massive bid comes from a top club then no one is going to stand in Pedro’s way.
“I’m confident that he will be here. Because we haven’t had anything really, that makes the club think that he won’t be. But of course, a lot of business can be done late.”
The prospect of bringing the 24-year-old to White Hart Lane is quite exciting, especially considering the versatile performances he has put in at the Molineux Stadium over the years.
The promise of having his creativity, flair and pace on the flank would ensure that Postecoglou’s side is more clinical in the transition and he can feature on either wing and could also play through the middle in a false 9 role.
However, with the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool linked with a move for Neto, Spurs will have to pounce on his signatures.
