Tottenham Hotspur launch pursuit of rising star Kayode

Tottenham Hotspur have been looking at a potential move for Fiorentina defensive sensation Michael Kayode as the North Londoners look to replace AC Milan-bound Emerson Royal.

The former Barcelona defender has fallen down the pecking order at White Hart Lane since the arrival of Ange Postecoglou, and Spurs have been looking to cash in on him this summer. Royal has been subject to links with AC Milan, as both clubs grind on working out common grounds for a transfer to conclude.

And while negotiations progress for Emerson Royal’s sale, Daniel Levy & Co. are looking at Michael Kayode as a potential replacement for the outing South American ace, per Firenzeviola.

Pedro Porro takes up the first team role as the starting right back with summer signing Archie Gray, originally a midfielder yet having the capacity to play in the right-back role. The future of Djed Spence is also in the air, although any move for Kayode would essentially end Spence’s time in North London.

Spurs look to Italy for right-back reinforcements

Tottenham are looking to sign players with exceptional capabilities who can be shaped as per Ange Postecoglou’s playing style in the long run, and the 20-year-old Italian right-back could just be Levy’s next find. Kayode was once labelled ‘fantastic’ for his ability to ‘read a game’.

The Fiorentina right back had an excellent breakthrough season last year, as he contributed to five goals in 37 appearances in his debut campaign. While he got ample opportunities coming his way at the Italian club, he is expected to start as an understudy to Dodo going into the next season.

While he still has four years left on his current deal, Tottenham are looking to snatch his services from Fiorentina, who value him for €30m at the time of writing.

The Lilywhites have regularly turned to Serie A to meet their needs, and it looks like they are about to price away another star in the making from the Italian top tier.
