Can Manor Solomon resurrect his Spurs career?
Tottenham Hotspur garnered headlines when they signed Manor Solomon on a free transfer. The winger has been renowned for his work ethics, pace, power, and the fact that he can find the net on a regular basis.
His arrival at White Hart Lane saw Spurs faithful on the edge of their seats as Daniel Levy delivered a strong player who can make an impact out of nothing.
However, his stay in North London hasn’t been a memorable one yet. The player has suffered from consistent injuries, which has kept him a regular on the sidelines. Following a positive start to the 2023/24 season, the 25-year-old spent the majority of the season on the sidelines following a major injury setback in October.
And he will without a doubt be hungry to prove his potential; however, it might be tough to get consistent minutes given the current competition in the wide areas at N17.
Levy to decide Solomon’s fate?
John Wenham expects the player to be sold this summer following his lack of involvement in the ongoing pre-season. The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast, Lilywhite Rose, insists that he has now fallen down the pecking order, and the fact that he hasn’t found minutes in the last two pre-season games might suggest that the club are ready to move him on.
Wenham also argues how Solomon takes up a homegrown quota position in the Premier League roster.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, Wenham said:
“I expect Solomon to be moved on. When I saw suggestions that he could leave earlier in the window I found it quite unusual. However, when he has played during pre-season, he has been underwhelming.
“Some people might suggest that is because he has been injured for such a long time. However, since the first three pre-season matches, Solomon hasn’t played any minutes at all in the last two games.
“That tells me he is quite far down the pecking order and therefore there might be a permanent departure. He also takes up one of the 17 non-homegrown spots.
“As a result, it might be in his and the club’s best interest to move him on.”
People easily forget the talent Solomon possesses. Given that he has been injured for a long time and getting back to his peak would require hard work and time, that doesn’t mean that the club would let someone as talented as the 25-year-old leave on a cheap deal. It doesn’t sound like Daniel Levy to me.
If Manor Solomon leaves this summer, it would be a disappointing end to his time at Spurs, given how excited everyone was following his initial performances.
We will see what Levy thinks and if he chooses to sell Solomon this summer.
