Kulusevski future secured at Spurs?

Tottenham Hotspur winger Dejan Kulusevski has been subject to surprise links with a move away from White Hart Lane in the ongoing summer transfer window.

The window was expected to be one for steeping into a new era and letting go of ties that are holding the club back. Spurs are expected to undergo a mass exodus of the players surplus to requirements at Tottenham Way. Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has already left the club, with Emerson Royal having one foot out the door. Gio Lo Celso is also subject to links away from N17.

While none of the aforementioned names come as a surprise considering their deflating importance at the club under Ange Postecoglou’s tutelage.

However, when the reports suggesting Kulusevski’s exit emerged, it ruffled a few feathers.

The Swede winger has been one of the players on the current roster who seems tailor-made for Ange Postecoglou’s playing style. Dejan plays a brand of fast football at a high IQ using space and takes on the creative baton at the club. His versatile profile also provides ample unpredictability to the side.

Aston Villa’s pursuit of Kulusevski hits brick wall?

Kulusevski not for sale, insists Robinson.
Kulusevski is not for sale, insists Robinson.

Spurs Premier League rivals, Aston Villa, have been linked with a move for the 24-year-old winger. The Villans are looking at the Sweden international to replace Moussa Diaby on Emery’s roster. And former Tottenham keeper Paul Robinson believes that the club would consider only an “astronomical” bid to let go of Kulusevski.

Kulu only arrived in North London on a permanent deal last summer, and Robinson cannot see Daniel Levy sanctioning a move that would take the Swede away from Hotspur Way this summer.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, Robinson said:

“I can’t see Tottenham trading for Kulusevski at all. He’s played a lot of football since Ange Postecoglou came in, and he’s shown his quality. He’s still very early on in his Spurs career, but he’s had a big impact.

“They would do well to find a player of his quality to replace him. I’d be highly surprised if Spurs were to listen to any bids for him, especially to a rival like Aston Villa. Are they a bigger, better club than Tottenham? No.

“He won’t be for sale. It would have to be an astronomical bid for Daniel Levy to go to the manager and question whether they would accept it or not. The bid would have to include silly numbers for the club to even think about it.”

Kulusevski has netted 15 goals and provided 19 assists during his time at Tottenham. The Australian boss would be hoping for something similar, yet on a more consistent basis, going into the upcoming season.
