Tottenham set to miss out on Amir Richardson with Fiorentina in hot seat

As confirmed by Le Parisien, Stade Reims have reached an agreement in principle with Serie A side Fiorentina over a move for Amir Richardson, and it’s now up to the player to agree personal terms with La Viola.

The Morocco international’s stock has risen drastically in recent days owing to his performances at the Olympics that have recently culminated in a bronze medal.

In the Premier League, Richardson has been attracting interest most prominently from Spurs and Everton.

Son of former NBA player Micheal Ray Richardson, the 6’6″ defensive midfielder broke through the academy of Le Havre before moving to Reims two summers ago.

The 22-year-old has made only 28 appearances for Les Rouges et Blancs, with his €350k-per-year contract, set to run until June 2027, is due for a massive upgrade with a move to greener pastures this summer.

Can’t win every battle

If they want, Spurs—or any other Premier League club, for that matter—could enter the fray in the last minute with a bumper offer to take Richardson off the Florentine grasp, but it would be just as okay if that were to not be the case.

Richardson is 22, and if he shines in Italy he could earn himself a Premier League move in a couple of years as well, and if Spurs play their cards right in that time, they could move for him again.

For now, Spurs should at least be content with the good work they have already done in roping in youngsters this summer.
