Richarlison rejects Saudi offer & eyes Tottenham future

Tottenham Hotspur forward Richarlison has been linked with a move away from White Hart Lane this summer, and the Brazilian forward has issued another plea, which points to the possibility of his stay at N17.

Richy has incurred a roller coaster of a season with the Lilywhites, as the former Watford ace looked like one of the best strikers at Spurs at times, and he was serving the injury table the other. This became an impending concern at Spurs, especially owing to the fact that he was the main striker at the club over the previous campaign.

Spurs or Saudi?

Ange Postecoglou wants to bring marquee number nine in the ongoing summer transfer window, and that could spell an end to the 27-year-old’s time in North London. Richarlison has already been linked with a move to the Middle East, with Saudi Pro League clubs looking to snap his signatures.

Al Hilal has been publicly reported as being one of the clubs interested in signing the South American; however, Richarlison, in an interview with ESPN Brasil, expressed his intentions to stay put in London. He acknowledged that there is an offer on the table and the money is big, but his dream is the Premier League.

Richarlison said:

“There has been an offer, but my dream of playing for the Brazilian Seleçao and in the Premier League speaks louder. The money is big, but my dreams are bigger.”

Richy also goes on to admit his ambition to represent Brazil in the 2026 World Cup and that staying in the Premier League would aid his goals.

The player

joined Spurs in 2022 and has only scored 12 goals in 55 appearances in the Premier League, which is not the level of output that is expected from a leading striker at Tottenham.

It is to be seen how the situation materializes, as a possible high-value sale works best for Tottenham as they can invest that money in signing marquee number nine.

For Richarlison, he would want to continue with the Lilywhites and have an opportunity to cement his legacy at the club considering the project that Spurs have undertaken with Ange Postecoglou at the helm.
