José Mourinho was quick to take a dig at Tottenham in a recent interview.
The Spurs fanbase would always want to stick a needle in the Special One’s eyes in return, and if some reports are to be believed, they actually have a chance to hamper his chances of immediate success at his new club, Fenerbahçe.
Tottenham remain interested in Fenerbahçe’s Sebastian Szymański
According to Turkish sports presenter Elis Buse Araç, the agent of Sebastian Szymański has been receiving calls from Premier League clubs all summer.
Last month, A SPOR also reported that Spurs were looking to go after the Poland international.
The 25-year-old was one of the best players in the Süper Lig last season and played a key role in Fenerbahçe accumulating a mammoth 99-point tally, which still wasn’t enough to clinch the league title as their local rivals Galatasaray clinched the top spot with a tally of 102.
Szymański is valued by Transfermarkt at €19 million and has three years remaining on his €80k-per-week contract.
Szymański no longer a player Tottenham need, but…
Szymański is an attacking midfielder who can play both centrally and out wide, and we know by now how much Ange Postecoglou prefers players of that ilk.
That said, Spurs are stacked with such players in the ranks to the point that bringing Szymański is not really necessary. Though if they are expecting a departure or two before the window ends, especially with Dejan Kulusevski also touted to make an exit, then the left-footed Pole could yet become crucial.
